On Sunday 20th November 2011, which was a gloriously sunny day, The Esk Parishes held a joint benefice service of Baptism and Confirmation in the Church of St Michael and All Angels, Arthuret.

It was both a pleasure and an honour that the Bishop of Carlisle, Bishop James, was able to join the celebrations at Arthuret and wonderful to see so many happy faces as the church filled up with families and friends of all ages and backgrounds, coming together to witness the public declaration of faith by all the candidates.

Bishop James preached a sermon using Evan the Almighty to ilustrate about Acts of Random Kindness. Our Rector, Rev’d Russell Tague, baptised some candidates for Baptism, then Bishop James confirmed the candidates and led Holy Communion.

All in all it was a very happy day for everyone concerned.
